Vapora Releases Hologram Plaza 3
Hologram Plaza 3 arrives today, bringing Vapora’s vaporwave and mallsoft setting back into view through ten tracks. Nostalgic, liminal, and retro in mood, the album continues the series with a wider itinerary through the plaza’s social spaces, storefronts, and after-hours corners.
“Retail Therapy” opens the release, followed by “Sunday Funday” and “Afterhours.” The tracklist moves between different times and kinds of activity, making the plaza feel less like a single room and more like a world that changes throughout the week. “Friday Night” and “Saturday Afternoon” extend that sense of time, while the setting stays rooted in familiar commercial architecture.
Longer pieces give this installment a different sense of scale. “At the Atrium” and “Galleria” each run beyond six minutes, while “The Cinema” passes seven. Those durations offer more room within the sequence than many of the compact pieces on Hologram Plaza 2. “The Jungle Cafe” and the closing “Mallwalker” add further destinations, tying the album’s track names to the experience of moving through a shared space.
Behind the series is an influence that reaches back to Dystopia, Vapora’s debut release: Hologram Plaza, the mallsoft classic by Disconscious. Disconscious was a major influence on Vapora, and that early inspiration remains part of the context for these later explorations. Hologram Plaza 3 approaches the retail setting on a broader scale, with longer pieces and more destinations across its sequence. The connection to a formative work remains, while Vapora continues developing his own way of moving through the architecture, moods, and visual language of the plaza.
Produced between June and September 2019, Hologram Plaza 3 returns to an established part of Vapora’s identity while changing the proportions of the journey. It extends the series through both setting and duration, leaving room for its imagined interiors to unfold. Explore the full album, artwork, and listening destinations on its release page.
